This Sunday, April 9, we commence Holy Week with Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem and the beautiful musical journey of the "Requiem" by John Rutter. Our choir will be accompanied by an array of instruments and soloists that will fill your spirit.

Children are invited to participate in our palm parade and blessing and Sunday school.

As Christians, we look at the terrible day when Christ died called Good Friday, April 14, through the lens of the Resurrection. Our Good Friday service is being led by our very own Reverend John Gibbon on Friday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m. It is our hope that you will come to this moving observance of suffering and glory.

Easter Morning Festivities include an uplifting service with the York High School Brass Ensemble and special singing by our choir from Handel's "Messiah". Our guest minister is the Reverend Tom Norwalk, Associate Conference Minister of the Illinois Conference of the United Church of Christ.

Immediately after the service, our youth are hosting their Annual Bake Sale. Please consider making your favorite treat for Easter morning.

As We Prepare for Palm Sunday

Posted by Church Communication, With 0 Comments, Category: Church, Holy Week Services,

Holy Week begins with a very moving Palm Sunday service on April 9 at 10 a.m. Often referred to as Passion Sunday, the service will begin with a children’s palm procession reenacting Jesus’ triumphal entrance into Jerusalem. We will follow the journey through the Holy Week stories with the choir singing the very beautiful “Requiem” by John Rutter. The choir will be accompanied by organ, piano, oboe, flute, cello and piano. Our own Carina Kanzler will sing the solos in “Pie Jesu” and “Lux Aeterna”, and Lisa Weiser-Janisch will play cello for the haunting “Out of the Deep” movement. Dan Hennel, piano, Margie Arito, oboe, and Mary-Christine Stingley, flute, are our instrumentalists for this very moving service.

Join us for a festive service celebrating Advent and Holy Communion.

The second Advent candle representing Peace will be lit this Sunday reminding us of the peace we find in Christ. Rev. John Gibbon will be leading us this Communion Sunday.

Children will be busy learning about the seasons of Advent and Christmas  rehearsing for next Sunday's, December 11th, pageant.
A lot of hard work, time, and love is going into the pageant. It is a gift that the children of the church are presenting to us. Please mark your calendar and plan on joining us for "The Messengers", a wonderful interpretation of the birth of Jesus Christ through the eyes of our children.
Come Embrace the Season
