Holy_bibleAre you looking for a new tool for spiritual growth?  Then join us this Advent for a special study program about using Lectio Divina.

What is Lectio Divina?  Literally it is Latin for divine or sacred reading.  It is an ancient method of bible study that focuses on feeding the heart and soul through a spiritual approach to reading scripture rather than an intellectual analysis of it.

Lectio Divina dates back at least to the 6th Century and served as the primary form of bible study until about three hundred years ago.  Over the past thirty years, many people rediscovered this practice as a way of nurturing their overall spiritual growth.

A light breakfast and coffee will be available beginning at 8:30 a.m.  The program will begin at 9:00 a.m. on the four Sundays of Advent:

  • November 30
  • December 7
  • December 14
  • December 21

The study will consist of instruction, discussion, and actual practice of lectio divina.  Each session is a stand alone experience focusing on one of the day’s lectionary readings.  So, if you cannot be at each one, you can still participate.  All four sessions will meet downstairs in Fellowship Hall.
