The purpose of such a garden is:
- An outdoor location for private worship, meditation, and consultation.
- An area set aside for spreading the ashes of the deceased. There will be a memorial tablet erected recognizing those people. Other past members of the church may also be recognized on this tablet.
The memorial garden will be financed entirely by the purchase of bricks for the walks surrounding the garden, benches, entries on the memorial tablet, and specified donations. There will be no use of church budget funds or the endowment fund for this project. A separate arrangement will be made for maintenance.
If the garden is approved, the committee will work out details such as exact location, construction schedule, promotion of brick and bench purchases, and maintenance arrangements.
The committee researched this by visiting and interviewing other such gardens in the area. We feel that this project is altogether fitting as a beautiful and thoughtful addition to our church.
